Why do I have to pay a set-up fee?
The set-up fee is required to cover our hard costs for setting up and initializing the service for you.

How long does it take to get set up?

We can get you started with us in as little as one week for a turnkey ISP solution or in as little as one day for the basic wholesale service.


Do I need any equipment?
No equipment is needed to join our Virtual ISP program, our ISP package gives you a complete range of services without the need for equipment on your side.

Can I add additional services to my selected ISP package?
Yes. You can add any service at any time to your selected package.

Can I set up my own e-mail server?
Yes

How do I create an account for my customer?
Within your Administrative Console will be an account management system. It is a form driven web interface used to activate, modify, and delete accounts.

How do I activate, delete, suspend my customers accounts?
This is all handled inside our control panel.

Each time I add a new user in the control panel, how long does it take for the customer's account to be live?
Instantly.

Do I have to use your software to signup my members?
You can use our instant activation scripts or you can activate new members in your backroom control panel.

Can I migrate a current membership?
Yes. We enable a seamless and hassle-free switching of your users to our services.

Will my users get unlimited access?
No. There is a limit to the number of hours allocated to each account however the usage limit is set much higher than the average usage statistics of dialup customers.

How many dialup numbers will we be able to offer?
We have a comprehensive list of local access numbers. Your users will be able to connect using any of the numbers in our extensive network. Check local access numbers 

I do not see a dialup number in my area on any of your networks, can you put one here?
Sorry, we only offer service in the areas listed on our Access Number page.


I have already signed up. How do I get support for the service?
Once you sign up and are approved you can log in to the ISP Administrative Console where you can create a Trouble Ticket in the Support section or chat live with our support staff.

As a Virtual ISP (VISP) customer, we will support you with any/every aspect of the service. However, we will not support your clients directly.


How will I be able to provide support to my customers for your service?

When you sign up with us, you will get access to all support-related questions and their solutions which can be easily referred to while offering technical support to your customers. Our chat and trouble ticketing software will also incorporate common questions related to our service and their solution.


Will Modem Pops speak directly to my customers if I am unable to solve their problem?

We generally do not offer support to your customers though we can give you solution to a problem that your customers might be facing. However in case you are still unable to resolve the problem, we may speak to your customers on your behalf but this may incur an extra support charge.

Why do I have to pay a set-up fee?

How am I billed for my accounts?

In the beginning of every month you pay for the number of customers you expect to use the service during that month. At a minimum, this number would be equal to the number of subscribers in the previous month.  If the actual number of subscribers is different than the number paid for, then this difference would be reconciled during the billing for next month.

 

Therefore, if actual number of subscribers during a month is less than the number you paid for in the beginning of that month, then we will credit you the difference but if the actual number of subscribers is more, we will include the additional charge, in the next month's bill. You are billed for each new customer that signs up during a month at the time of signup.

 


What if a subscriber signs up but cancels the account in less than a full month? Will I get billed only for the partial month?

No. You are billed for the full month only. There are no credits to the ISP for partial months.

 


Who does the billing for subscribers?

You are responsible for billing your customers. In exceptional cases we can do the billing for you, deduct our charges and pay you the balance, however there would be an additional charge for this service.

 


How do I make payments?

Inside your control panel you can add funds using Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also take Paypal, Online Checks, Money Order and Check by mail.

 


What if I am unable to pay on time?

Our services are strictly prepaid. If you are unable to pay, your services will be suspended till the time the payment is received by us.

 


Can I charge my customers a setup fee or "activation?"

Yes, you can charge whatever setup fee you like.


Can I set my own pricing?

Yes, you are solely responsible for deciding the pricing for your subscribers.



What kind of time commitment do you require in contract agreement?
We do not require any long-term commitments. You can continue on a month-by-month basis.

Who owns the accounts?

Your customers, and their accounts, are owned by you. We do not make any claim to the ownership or control over an account. You are free to move accounts between our service and someone else's service without restriction.


Who does the marketing and selling?

All marketing and sales is handled by you. We simply provide you with the services and related infrastructure.


Can I also sign up other ISP's under me? 

Yes

 


Do you outsource any services?

Modempops leases Internet access from national providers. However our front end services such as technical support, billing, customized software are developed in-house. This allows us better control in direct customer interactions and enables us to respond better to customer queries or concerns.

 


What if I am unable to pay on time?

Our services are strictly prepaid. If you are unable to pay, your services will be suspended till the time the payment is received by us.

 


Will you ever contact my customers?

We will not contact your customers directly. For any announcements or updates, we will send the information to your e-mail address and you can pass these on to your customers.

 



How much money will I make?

We cannot give you any estimate on that. We are only supplying the tools for your business, however the amount of money you make from the business will be entirely upto you.


Whose DNS is used for the dial-up User?

All sites deploy equipment that provides "server assigned DNS", "server assigned gateway", and "dynamic IP assignment". This means the standard PPP dialer you issue to your clients can connect to any site without making any changes to their settings. The DNS settings will be passed to the dial-up user's software automatically. If your user does not have dial-up software that can receive automatic DNS information, then you should provide them with your DNS information upon set-up.
